Qingdao , an important coastal city in north China that famous for its historical scene and commercial economic center. It is one of the fourteen open coastal cities and one of the eight cities authorized to hold international conferences. Moreover, Qingdao is one of China's main ports for foreign trade.
It is located at the southern tip of the Shandong Peninsula. A unique blend of sea and mountains and a pleasant climate make Qingdao extraordinary. Qingdao has a total coastline (including its islands) of 870 kilometers, 730 kilometers of which are continental coastline, accounting for one fourth of the total length in Shandong.

Qingdao is a key textile, light industry and chemical production center in China. The city has special advantages in household electrical appliances, electronics, rubber, locomotive and rolling stock manufacture, as well as food processing. The city's GDP in 2003 reached RMB 1780.3 billion, an increase of 2.5% over the previous year. From this figure, secondary industry accounted for RMB 937.1 billion, and tertiary industry accounted for RMB 695.7 billion, increases of 20.7% and 13.1% respectively.
There are many famous Chinese enterprises who chosen to set up their manufacturing plants in Qingdao, such as Haier Group, Tsingtao Beer Co., Ltd, the Hisense Group, the Aucma Group, the Double Star Group, the Rubber Group and the Etsong Group. Hisense, Double Star and Aucma are all well-known Chinese enterprises. The Tsingtao Beer Co is a century-old enterprise while Haier, Double Star Group and Aucma are new star rising out of China's policies of reform and opening-up.
Qingdao Port, a famous natural seaport, is the largest container transportation hub in the Yellow River Region and along the west Pacific coast and has trade relations with more than 450 ports in over 130 countries and regions in the world. In 2003, the throughput of the port reached about 1.4 billion tons. The foreign trade handling capacity has reached 1.02 billion tons.
