| Dalian is located in the southern tip of East Liaoning Peninsula where the Yellow Sea is on its East, the Bohai Sea is on its West, and the Shandong Peninusla is on its south across the sea.
Dalian is well known as a harbor city in the north China . The business nature of Dalian is combined with industrial and tourism mechanism. Because of its geographic advantage, it also serves as the gateway to Beijing and Tianjin . Besides, Dalian is holding the leading position of Bohai and its neighbor areas in respects of communication technology, distribution centre of logistic services, finance and economy centre.
Port of Dalian was founded in 1899 and being located at the centre of North Pacific Ocean connecting the blooming North East economic zone to the worldwide countries particularly serving the traffic to America, Europe, Middle East, South Asia and or transshipment via Korea, Japan.
The port of Dalian is covered by a coast line of 346 square meter with usable land area of 15 sq.km and is facilitated by the 160 km on dock railway. There are over 300,000 square meter of storage warehouse and 1.8 million sq km of container yards available for cargo turnabout. It is also recognized as one of the four mandatory deep sea port development project issued by the Central Government.
There are more than 50 international steam ship carriers who bring in 220 vessel/voyage per month into Dalian port recently. A number of 60 plus carriers have already set up their administrative or liaison offices in Dalian managing and operating the relevant transportation business. Dalian has been building up trade and shipping relationship with over 160 countries and 300 international ports, and has been recognized as the second largest container seaport, the fastest growing and the highest passenger turnover harbor in China . Much more than that, Dalian has been positioned itself as one of the world class port that has the capability of handling 100 million tons full put annually.
